Removals...

We considered using a removal company to move us from England to Portugal.
However, after getting a couple of quotes it seemed like a big headache and waiting game. We don't have a lot of stuff to take with us, I mean probably half a garage load of stuff in total and the couple of quotes that we received were around £2500. With the knowledge that we would receive our stuff sometime in the next 3-6 months!

We purchased the VW T5 on the strength of knowing that we will want to shuttle people/stuff around once we are in Portugal on the farm. It has a tow bar with an electric hook up, so just made sense to get some sort of trailer.

Having had a look around on Gumtree (which has turned into a bit of a thing now, as this is where we have purchased and sold quite a lot of stuff) we found a relatively good sized trailer that we figured would suit our needs for moving our belongings nearly 1800 Miles across Europe.

Having had a look around various second hand sales websites I found one relatively close (180 miles away) via Gumtree. We settled on a Rice Horse Trailer. I am not sure of the age of the trailer, but was informed before going to pick it up that it was solid and had had a new flooring put in place not long ago.

Arranged a time to go and have a look with the proviso to purchase and drive away that day. Drove the van down to Lyneham, Wiltshire. Met a lovely couple (Hi Lorna, Scott & baby).
Had a look underneath and all around the trailer and paid £650 for the privilege of driving it home on the back of the van.

The van hardly noticed that there was anything attached to it...

So now we are the proud owners of a Van & Trailer... I have been trying to sort out becoming self employed for most of this year and becoming a food vendor... Now we have a trailer & van, all we have to do is get it to Portugal with all of our stuff and convert it into something fun!

It was late at the services, but you get the idea...
Peace 1 <3
